Fender Mexican Standard Fat Strat Reviews 5

I bought this at a Guitar Center for just under $400. This was my first electric guitar; I'd played on a cheap old classical guitar for over a year and wanted an electric.

This guitar looks really sleek. I got it in a midnight wine finish and it looks beautiful. I get a really good sound from it through a crate glx15. It sounds really good for such a low price. There are alot of variations with the sound using the two tone knobs, volume knob, 2 single coil pickups, and humbucker.

I don't like the quality of the humbucker. I'm going to get some DiMarzio, because these humbuckers really don't give you a great sound at all. The tuning knobs are pretty loose, but can be adjusting by using a screwdriver, or putting graphite on the nut slots.

This guitar can definitely take a beating. It's built very sturdily. I've had it for a few months now and there are no dents, and I don't treat it as gently as I should.

I think this guitar was a very wise purchase. I would get it if you want a variety of tone; not just single coils or humbuckers.

I bought this a Charlottesville Music in charlottesville, Va for $450

I love fender products anyway but this is a great guitar. It sounds incredible! you can play anything on this guitar and it sounds great. From blues to hendrix to ac/dc, whatever you are into this guitar will sound incredible in any genera. I absolutley think that this is the best guitar out there for the money if you are into alot of differnet types of music. Another great thing about this guitar and any fender is that they take a beating and keep pumping out that big fender tone.

There is nothing that i dont like about this guitar.

This guitar is made extremely well. It plays as well as an american strat exept the neck feels a little different but not because of a quality differnce they are both made of maple. The tuners are exelent and tune very well, especially if you tighten down the tremelo bridge, which makes the tuning more stable.

If you are looking for a guitar for between 400 and 600 dollars this is one of the best out there. If you have the cash you should get a highway 1 strat hss because it is a great sounding american made strat for a little over 600 dollars but the fender standard mexi fat strat is the best value in a guitar i have seen. Because of the humbucker you can generate even more different tones than with a 3 single coil equipped instrument. This guitar does it ALL for an incredible price, upholding the fender tradition of delivering wonderfully made and sounding guitars to the not so rich musican.

I got this guitar for christmas from my dad at a Guitar Center in my area. I had been in dire need of a new electric for some time. I think it was about $350. Normally $300 but I got it with Sunburst which is an extra $50.

What do I like about this guitar? Almost everything. The bridge humbucker screams if you use it right. The maple fretboard on mine is absolute heaven (I don't know why but I have never liked rosewood fretboards). The strings are beyond easy to change and stay fairly in tune.

If you ever buy this guitar, get some Sperzel Locking Tuners the same day you are at the store because the ones that come on this Strat are about the worst tuners I have ever used. Other than that, I love this guitar.

Perfect in every way. This guitar is tough as nails. Sometimes I can't belive it isn't more scratched up than it already is. One problem, when you buy the guitar, fender only buits in three tension spring on the bridge, thus, the bridge sticks up at about a 40 degree angle when you change the strings and tune it up. Just go out and buy a pack, stick 'em on and your good to go. There should be five on there when your done.

Great guitar, change what I have said and your getting alot more than what you payed for.

Paid $330 at Musician's friend. As a teen and in my 20's I played at an intermediate level and even made some good money on gigs at the local high school. I bought the Standard MIM Fat Strat to get that Fender sound, and chose the low end to limit my investment, since I now play only for personal enjoyment.

As I have found since buying the low end MIM model, there is some variance in sound quality between individual guitars. I was lucky and got a very sweet-sounding one via mail order!

No dislikes - a good buy for the money.

Quality and construction exceeded my expectations. This ax is built like a tank. Finish is not Rolls Royce, but is very nice. Setup was perfect out of the box - action is low and excellent playability. Neck is fast.

If stolen I would replace this ax in a heartbeat. However, based on what I have learned since, I think I would buy from a local dealer where I could try and compare several of the same model.
